Where Do You Find The Stuff You’ll Love?

Okay, so I’m curious. Where do you find the stuff that you love? More importantly, I’d like to know where you go to find the stuff you’re going to love?

"Huh?" you ask.

Here’s that I mean: When you’re looking for something new, where do you go to find it? If you’re looking for a new movie to check out, where do you go? If you have the sudden urge to discover a new blog, how do you find it? When you want to find an internet video, where do you go and what do you use?

I’d love to hear what people use.

Movies- Which sites do you use to find new movies to check out? For new movies, I usually check out rottentomatoes.com, but that just gives popularity rankings. For DVD rentals…I don’t really have anything I use consistently.

Music- Where do you go to find something new? The only service I’ve used successfully to truly discover something is Pandora. Anyone who knows me must be sick of the story now, but I’d never heard of Tom Waits until I tried out Pandora. The only drawback is that it takes time to get to the good stuff, though that’s expected (and necessary, really) when training a system.

Video- This one is really tough, as I’m usually very aware of the types of video I’m looking for, which impacts where I’m looking. When I’m looking for something funny, I’ll go to collegehumor.com or break.com. If I’m looking for old footage of Mitch Hedberg or Bill Hicks, I’ll go to YouTube. As far as discovering something new, it’s pretty difficult with internet video. There’s just so much out there.

Blogs- This one is tough. Long ago I used technorati to find new blogs. Now I find myself adding new feeds to my RSS reader after seeing articles I like on digg, reddit and techmeme. There’s really no single thing I use to specifically find new blogs.

So, where do you go when you’re looking for something new?
